The Mill Center for the Arts!

Press Release

From Eugene Carr III, Board Chair

In support of its decision to take a new direction, the Mill Center Board of Directors, at its February 21 meeting, unanimously voted to adopt the following new position regarding the design of the proposed building:

The design of the arts center should be compatible with Historic Downtown Hendersonville and, if the project goes forward at the present Fourth Avenue site, certain elements of the Old Grey Hosiery Mill should be incorporated into the facility.

Earlier, the Board adopted these new Mission and Vision Statements:

VISION

to provide a center for a variety of arts and entertainment that unites our community

and fosters education and economic development

MISSION

to facilitate the creation and operation of a self-sustaining community complex that

will fulfill our vision of providing a variety of arts, entertainment and educational

programs and events

"As we continue our work to build a gathering place for our community the Board will measure all efforts against this new Mission Statement and will keep our Vision in mind at all times," Gene Carr, Board Chair.

The Mill Center Board is composed of volunteers who are local business owners, professionals, residents and community members united by our vision for what this center can be.  We look forward to working with community leaders and advocates for the arts as we proceed with our efforts to secure the funding necessary to proceed with the project.
